D.I.Y Sunglasses!

These sunglasses are just amazing, aren’t they? After looking through Dulce & Gabana’s spring runway collection I spotted these beautiful decked out sunglasses. What better way to pocket some cash than to make them yourself! Hope you dolls enjoy making these beauties as much as I did!

What you’ll need:

  • A pair of sunglasses. I purchased a green pair of shades. I didn’t really think to much of the color, but more on the shape. You want to find a big pair of sunglasses so you’ll have a bigger “canvas.”
  • Glue. I used Scotch Super Glue & also used E6000 all purpose industrial glue.
  • A pen. You know to do all the “dirty” work.
  • Flat back jewels. I used three different kinds. Pink flat back pearls/ size: 4mm/Amount:400. White flat back rhinestones/Size: 8mm & 10mm/Amount:6. Yellow oval flat back gems/size:18mm/amount:16. As you can see I didn’t use all of the gems but its always better to be safe than sorry.

First I used the super glue and layed a thin layer for about 3-4 pearls. I didn’t put too much so that it will build up when you place the pearls, but enough for them to stick to the sunglasses. If you do use scotch  super glue you won’t have to worry about the jewels falling off it does its job! Only bad thing about the scotch super glue is that it runs like water so make sure to control the tube and not squeeze too hard.

While the scotch glue dried on the sunglasses into a thicker base, I used my pen and dabbed it into the E6000 glue so I would be able to pick-up the jewels.

Once I had the pearl on the pen I started placing them one by one onto the sunglasses. As you can see in the photo above some parts of my sunglasses are already blinged out, but I started from the corner and made my way around placing them next to each other. DSC_0765DSC_0766DSC_0767

The yellow ovals that I used were a little bigger so I didn’t need the pen to place them onto the sunglasses. I  rubbed some of the glue to the back of the oval and then placed it in the corner of the sunglasses. I held it there for about 15-20 seconds until it didn’t move anymore. Then I did the same to the other side of the sunglasses and rest of stones.DSC_0839DSC_0840DSC_0841

TADA! These beauties! This project took me 2 days but it can easily be done in a couple of hours. I didn’t have a specific design while making these sunglasses but if I could go back I would have drawn it out just so I would have a clearer goal. But minor details!  If you have any questions concerning these fantabulous DIY  Sunglasses or would like to suggest my next D.I.Y project please comment bellow. Thank you for Dolls, MUAH!
