How do you become a model you ask? What do I need to do to get there and what can I do to get there faster? Becoming a model doesn’t require a college degree, nor is it necessary to attend modeling school to be successful. It does, however, take dedication, perseverance and an optimistic attitude. You have to be prepared to take the good with the bad and keep moving forward.
The reality of things is that not every pretty face can be a model; it’s about the overall “package.” What you need to do first is be comfortable with yourself and take care of your figure. Remember that your body is your temple, therefore you must always conserve it. You will get nowhere in the industry if you hate your figure, wish something was different, wish your hair was shorter, wished you were a size zero, but really are a size 6. Why? because you will not be able to come across that camera as a confident model and no one wants to see a girl who looks scared, lost, and most importantly a model who does not look believable.
So love yourself, tell yourself that you are beautiful and most of all believe in yourself and the look you have to offer. If there is something you want to change about yourself, then do it! There should be no excuses…. None! Now, once you are confident with yourself then you can move on to finding a good photographer who can capture you at your best. Now this does not mean that you need to have an extravagant picture filled with props, crazy outfits, and all those blows and whistles. Just make sure they are good quality photos. Look through their portfolio to see if the type of photos they shoot is the type of look you’re going for. In fact, most agencies prefer natural simple head shots and body shots.
As with anything, be educated on the topic and know your stuff. What styles do you like? What kind of images are you pursuing? Becoming familiarized with the industry is key to being successful.
